About The Haley Way of Life

Hi, I'm Haley!

I am firstly a follower of Jesus Christ - the ugliest of sinners saved by God's perfect grace alone. After that I'm a writer, performer, and nature-lover from Louisville, KY. I have a bachelor's degree from WKU in theatre and dance and I've worked as a professional performer since 2015. I've also been a teacher, choreographer, social media manager, museum docent, and zip line tour guide! Some of my favorite jobs have included working for Dollywood, Walt Disney World, and The Showboat Branson Belle. In my free time I enjoy yoga, running, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, photo-editing, reading, and journaling. I also love candles and essential oils, and I value cooking healthy foods and eating clean. I currently reside in Northern, KY with my kind and wonderful husband Joel, my lovable dog Sampson, and my princess of a cat Flora.

Fun facts: I have an identical twin sister, I am scuba certified, and I have synesthesia, which you can read about here!

My Writing Journey:

While I always enjoyed the writing assignments in my high school English class, the first unassigned writing I did was in my journal in college. At first journaling seemed overwhelming, but I quickly developed a healthy relationship with my journal, and grew to love the way it produced such self-awareness, intimacy with my thoughts, and a transparent perspective of the world around me. Journaling slowed down time for me, and helped me chart out confused thoughts in honest ways that can only come when you take the time to put a pen to paper. (You can read more about the awesome benefits of journaling here.)

I officially started blogging in the summer of 2017, when my love for journaling finally begged to be further explored. I define my writing style as casually academic, because I appreciate a personal voice but also value in-depth exploration of topics. I write on a range of topics, from Christian lifestyle, to personal growth, to health and wellness.

The artist in me has a dire need to romanticize life through a real, but very colorful lens. So I also have a fair amount of prose poetry and creative narratives sprinkled in amongst my meatier blogs. I like to think of these as little paintings decorating my library, highlighting the whimsical storyteller in me. They are cathartic and delightful to write when I am feeling particularly inspired or emotional about the wondrous world God has placed us in for a short time.

You'll notice in my earlier work that I have quite a few Disney focused blogs from my time working at Walt Disney World. To these I must pay homage, as my time as a Disney cast member is largely what inspired me to startup and maintain my blog in the first place. In turn, the popularity of my Disney blogs is largely what got my blog site off the ground. From my Disney blogs, you can expect lots of passion, pixie dust, and useful insider information (that I am allowed to reveal) for vacation planning. In my time at Disney, I became passionate about sharing my knowledge on the Disney College Program, and helping people make their Disney vacations the best they could be. I am still happy to provide helpful tips, tricks, and advice on how to make the most of your Disney experience, whether it be working for the company, or enjoying it as a guest. Be especially sure to check these Disney blogs out if you are doing the College Program! I have blogs explaining every step of the application process, as well as what to expect when you are on your program.

Can you tell? I just really enjoy writing! I find it is the way in which I can express myself most articulately. Way more so than talking! I love using my writing to connect to other people. I see it as a quiet form of helping and sharing, that viewers can intake at their leisure. Thanks for taking an interest in The Haley Way of Life! I hope I can inspire you, help you learn something new, or help you see something from a new perspective today. To God be the glory.
