Once upon a time, Haley saw a purple poster taped to the window of an office in a lonely hallway in her college campus. This poster had a magical word on it, and that word was Disney. Haley was shocked to see such a beautiful, happy thing, in such a dark and un-magical place, so she continued to read the poster. She saw that it was advertising some mysterious study away-internship hybrid called the Disney College Program. Intrigued, she stowed the information in her brain in case she might want to have it for later. A few days later, she talked to her professor about applying for this Disney College Program. Haley’s professor did not understand her love of Disney, and thought she should spend her time doing more productive things.
But this didn’t stop her. A few weeks later, Haley spontaneously decided to apply for the program, because what did she have to lose? So Haley applied and made it through the online interview and the phone interview. Haley was not expectant of anything, but was pleased to know she had at least made it this far, even if nothing would come of it. A few weeks later, Haley was walking back from her last class before the weekend, when she checked her phone and saw an email congratulating her on her acceptance into the Disney College Program! Upon hearing this news, Haley began to feel more special than she thought she was! So she began to talk to her family and friends, wondering whether or not she should go. And it turns out that eventually, she did, and it was the most life-changing, magical experience of her entire nineteen years of life!
Yes, as you’ve seen from the story, I applied for my first Disney College Program in the fall of 2014 and got accepted to come for the spring of 2015. Since I did my program, I now have a lot of detailed knowledge you can only glean from working for the company and experiencing the program first hand. Thus, I have been the wise old owl to countless friends and family inquiring about the Disney College Program. “What is so great about it?” “Will I really enjoy being away from my friends and family that long, and working a low paying job?” “I’m scared I won’t make it in.” “I’m worried about falling behind in my classes.” “Which housing complex do you recommend?” “How do I choose my role?” “How do I ace the interview?” “Do you have any tips?” “Can you talk about why the Disney College Program was so magical?” Why yes, yes I certainly can.
I’ve gotten so many questions about this unique experience that I truly believe if I had withheld this information and instead written a book, I would have made quite a pretty penny by now. But today must be your lucky day, because I have decided to partly use this blog to answer all your questions FOR FREE! I know, I know, I’m a saint. And you’re welcome.
I’ll be making a few different posts, detailing different parts (the what, why, and how) of the program. So subscribe or stick around to stay in the know!
