The Snow Day

The snow day.

A sabbath day

For a busy world

That no longer rests on the weekends.

The Lord covers the earth

In a heavy white blanket

Imploring us to rest

Under its gentle curves.

Beseeching

Busy-bodied minds

To revisit the pastoral days

And ponder woodland creatures and tall evergreens.

The might of a snowstorm

Stills the ticking hands,

And exhorts the world

Into timeless peace.

A day to pause

Without feeling guilty,

For the rest of the town too

Is coaxed into stillness.

So sit by the window.

Sip on smooth hot drink,

And snuggle under

The freeing blanket of snow.
